About Huntsville
In the 1950's, North Alabama was dotted with small, industrial cotton towns; then one day a small Army of German rocket scientists was assembled in Huntsville to develop rockets for the U.S. Army. Not long after, the team, led by Dr. Wernher von Braun, was successful in building a rocket which left Earth's outer atmosphere. Thanks to their remarkable efforts, the team's success eventually catapulted Americans into space and to the moon - in addition to earmarking Huntsville as a technology goldmine that continues to cultivate and thrive today. When Dr. von Braun teased Huntsville with an incentive to continue in the space and defense race, Huntsville saw the opportunity to grow. Today Huntsville is one of the leading technology centers in the world, boasting over 50 Fortune 500 companies within it's city limits. The Huntsville-metro area is a growing, diverse population of more than 350,000 people, of which more than 10 percent are natives of other countries and over 100 languages are fluently spoken.

Huntsville's nightlife is filled with music, food, and fun. From a quick stroll down Washington Street downtown, out-of-towners can quickly pick up on the southern charm vibe. Dotted with old buildings and refurbished storefronts, downtown Huntsville proudly caters to any fancy - from exclusive restaurants and clubs to local watering holes. Just around the corner is Huntsville's Old Towne Brewery, the Jazz Factory, and the Heritage Club. Within walking distance (approximately 1.5 miles) is Big Spring Park, the Von Braun Center, Huntsville Museum of Art, Constitution Village, and Early Works Kids Museum.

Where to stay? If you're looking for downtown proximity, we suggest the new Embassy Suites on Monroe Street. Need something close to our offices and Research Park? Consider the new Westin Huntsville at Bridge Street, Candlewood Suites on Exchange Place; the Fairfield Inn on Enterprise, the Residence Inn on Residence Inn Road; or the Huntsville Marriott on Tranquility Base.
